Belated Reading Update

**I started this entry over a week ago, so it's a little outdated, but posting it anyway.  I've also added a ton of library books - reading 20 total!  Yep, I had a relapse.** :)

About time I updated.  I've just been lazy (my usual excuse), but I have been reading.  I'm currently working on...

-The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood
(I started this one last fall; quit after less than 20 pages, but something in me told me to try it again.  I'm glad I did.  After my renewals ran out, I returned it to the library at just under 200 pages - the hardcover edition is 521 pages - and about a month ago, finally checked it out again.  I need to get it done within the next 5 days, and although I have to read it in small chunks, I do like it a lot.  My first Margaret Atwood book.  I really like her writing style.  That said, I did recently remove The Handmaid's Tale from my to-read shelf.  It just didn't appeal to me upon reading the first page.)
*3/7: Missed that five day goal, but I plan to have this read by Sunday.  Oh yes, it will happen! :D
*3/16: It didn't happen.  I returned it and ordered a used copy off Amazon.  It should be here tomorrow or Monday (my birthday.) :)

-Cold Sassy Tree by Olive Ann Burns
(I'm loving this one.  I've been reading it on my Kindle through Overdrive, but found a used copy at a thrift mall for $1, so am finishing up the last 100 pages on that.  This is another one of my 2007 reads and I can't believe it's taken me this long to finally pick it up, because it's becoming a favorite.)

-Mercury Ice by Michael D. Morrow
(Haven't started yet, but couldn't resist a Sci-Fi book focused on the planet Mercury - my favorite.)
**3/7: Put this back on my to-read shelf for now.

-Helga's Diary by Helga Weiss
(Haven't started this one yet either, but no reading list of mine would be complete without a Holocaust memoir or book related to WW2.)
**3/7: Finished tonight.

Recent books I've read...
-Delia's Gift by V.C. Andrews
(Third in the Delia trilogy.  I read the other two last year - The first one, Delia's Crossing, was my favorite.  Typical V.C. Andrews.  Good 3 star read.  Nothing special, but definitely a page turner.)

-The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway
(93 pages and I quit at page 53.  So boring.  After reading the first page, I removed For Whom the Bell Tolls from my to-read shelf on Goodreads, but kept The Sun Also Rises.  I'll give that one a shot.  A Farewell to Arms doesn't appeal to me either, though I will at least see if the first page draws me in.  I don't think Hemingway is my cup of tea.)

-'salem's Lot by Stephen King
(My second one of his.  I'm reading his books in order and this was his second, so...  I read Carrie a few years ago and figured it was about time I get back on track.  I wouldn't call 'Salem's Lot scary, but there were definitely some creepy and sinister moments.  I gave it 5 stars on Goodreads.  The copy I read included two short stories at the end called "One for the Road", which is a sequel and "Jerusalem's Lot", which is a prequel.  Both of these appear in his short story collection Night Shift, so I skipped them for now and will read them when I read that one.)
